Junior Section Entry System
Oakdale Golf Club Junior Section offers golfers up to the age of 18 the opportunity to develop their game in a friendly and supportive environment. We welcome new members of all standards ranging from complete beginners to good players. If you are new to the game, we will provide the tuition to make you proficient: if you have a strong game, you will have the opportunity to compete for a place in our successful Junior Team, winners of the 2008 Regional finals of the Home Nations Championship.
Junior Section Entry System for Starter Golfers
Any junior interested in joining Oakdale Golf Club is welcome to obtain an application form from the Club Secretary, Mr Mike Cross on Harrogate 567162, which they should complete and return.
Those new to the game then attend a minimum of six group lessons with the professional. Once the professional feels sufficient progress has been made he will award an entry certificate.
When you have received your entry certificate, please contact our junior support manager Mr Chris Hesketh on 01423 563537 or 07930 637942, he will then arrange a meeting with applicant, parent, and sponsor to go through the ‘Get Ready To Play’ pack which provides all the information you are likely to need.
Juniors new to the game have two playing categories as follows:-
Playing under supervision and playing without supervision.
We encourage parents, guardians and sponsors to complete as many rounds of golf as possible with their children, completing cards when ready. Once we receive two completed scorecards of 115 or less we will then issue a competence certificate which then allows the junior to play unsupervised.
Oakdale Golf Club has a structured approach to the induction of young people into the sport both from the points of view of technique and etiquette. Until a particular level of competence is achieved, the junior must be supervised on the course. Normally this will be by his/her sponsor, but where no sponsor is available we have a group of volunteers happy to fulfil this important role under the Club’s child protection policy.

To All Junior Golfers
Best wishes for the forthcoming season. Oakdale is a busy club but juniors do have reserved times for their competitions. Please take advantage and try to enter as many competitions as you can. Remember the handicap system gives everybody both a chance to succeed against better players and the opportunity to show improvement. Be bold and enter the knockout competitions, making sure you complete matches by the deadlines.
The Junior Coordinators are there to support you. Do not hesitate to ask for advice.
It is a privilege to belong to a club like Oakdale. We are proud of our junior section and expect juniors to respect the traditions and ideals of the club and to conduct themselves responsibly at all times.
